STUDENT CAREER DAYS

Student Career Days

Where curiosity meets the real world.

Student Career Days are CSC’s flagship career exploration program, providing hands-on, work-based learning experiences for all the students at Sleeping Giant Middle School (and sometimes those at Arrowhead, Shields Valley, and Gardiner.

Each grade participates in two on-site Career Days every year. By the time students leave middle school, they will have experienced six Career Days and explored careers across all 16 nationally recognized career pathways. That’s not just exposure. That’s expansion.

These are immersive, eye-opening days that take students into areas of our communities where local leaders bring their work to life.

Students rotate through interactive sessions led by professionals who don’t just talk about their careers, they demonstrate them. Youth ask real questions. Try real tools. Hear real stories. They begin to see how math, science, creativity, communication, and grit all connect to meaningful work.

For many students, Student Career Days are the first time they think:

“I didn’t know that was a job.”

“I could see myself doing that.”

“I have options.”

And when a young person realizes they have options, everything shifts.

Join Us

Student Career Days only happen because of community.

Students are divided into small groups that travel through the day together, attending each career station. Volunteers are paired with a SGMS staff member (and often one or two National Honors Society students from Park High) to help supervise, support, and fully engage students in the experience.

You don’t need to be a career expert. You just need to care.

If you’d enjoy spending a day helping middle schoolers discover what’s possible, we’d love to have you join us.
